What If I Live Forever

What If I Live Forever

What if I live forever
Or travel to the stars?

With birthdays at 150,
A second home on Mars

Is this what I am after,
Transcending age and space?

Consumption at my fingertips—
Is “more” what I embrace?

Or will I seek a peace
Of something deep and still

A simple smile, a sunset
The sharing of a meal

A touch from one who loves me
The gift of loving now

The laughter of a child…
So maybe, somehow

Being confined by time and space
Somehow makes it sweeter

Chasing is not the answer, but
Belief in something greater

What truly makes me happy isn’t
Money, me, and more

But faith and love of others
Allows me to adore

To surrender, to engage
To be salt, and love, and light

When I make not about me
I see forever every night
