Papa’s Story

“Hey Papa, tell me a story—
One that’s not too silly or gory.”
“Alright,” Papa said with a smile,
“I’ve wanted to share this for quite a while.
God made you with a special power,
Something that’s yours every day, every hour.
You’re the only you He’s ever made—
One of a kind, lovingly shaped.
So here are some lessons, simple and true,
Little reminders God gave me for you.
Lesson one: be kind wherever you go,
Kindness returns more than you’ll ever know.
And don’t worry too much what others may think,
Be yourself,” Papa said with a wink.
“Remember God loves you—now that is power,
So use it to love others, hour by hour.
Move your body, keep healthy, and finish your plate,
Play hard, eat veggies, don’t stay up too late—
Unless it’s to look at the stars and the moon,
Creation is magic—take time to look soon.
Parents are here to teach and to guide,
So listen and learn, walk close by their side.
Even when they remind you to wash and to brush—
That’s love too,” Papa added with a hush.
“This one’s tricky, and might sound odd:
Giving is better than taking,” he said with a nod.
“You’ll hear some say money is what matters most,
Step on others, run fast, never coast.
But life’s best lessons aren’t hidden away—
God showed us the path to live every day.
Happiness comes, and hard times too,
But joy lives inside you—steady and true.
It’s found in hugs and smiles,
In long outdoor walks, staying awhile.
In playing and laughing, adventures and learning,
In listening to elders, hearts gently discerning.
And knowing, no matter where you roam,
Your family loves you, you can always come home.
So love God and your neighbor—simple and clear,
And joy will grow stronger year after year.
Filled with peace, with laughter, with love completely,
And knowing you are loved, fully.”
